One-to-one coaching, or personal coaching, is a process of personal development. It is aimed at an individual and addresses the various problematic situations in their private life and/or working life.

This is known as life coaching or professional coaching.

Life coaching makes it possible, for example (and not exhaustively), for an individual:

  • to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem,
  • to communicate better, listen and make themselves heard,
  • to express ideas assertively using non-violent communication (NVC),
  • to identify their weaknesses and turn them into strengths,
  • to acquire new skills,
  • to manage certain difficult moments better, such as bereavement
  • to make a decision
  • to find their own solutions
  • ...

Professional coaching makes it possible, for example (and not exhaustively), for a person:

  • to improve their relationships with colleagues, staff or management,
  • to feel more fulfilled at work,
  • to assert themselves in public,
  • to go for a new post or win a promotion,
  • to change career direction,
  • to develop or acquire new skills, such as leadership,
  • ...

The boundary between life coaching and professional coaching is not always precisely defined. The benefits of support in the form of life coaching generally have positive effects in the professional sphere and, conversely, professional coaching is also very often beneficial in the private sphere. This may be the case when the coaching targets:

  • identifying and defining a goal and the method for reaching it,
  • developing or acquiring a new skill,
  • managing the work-life balance,
  • time management,
  • managing values and emotions,
  • ....
